Transplant

Transplant, 1998. Cibachrome, 10 x 8 inches, and framed plant fragment with insect wings, 10 x 8 inches.
A type of insect called a Lacewing always dies in droves over the winter in my father's study at our summer house in the Finnish archipelago. At the start of each summer, I find many delicate green corpses on the windowsill. I used several wings from the dead insects to repair a plant whose leaves were the same shape and size as the wings. There is a photograph of the living plant with the Lacewings “leaves” inserted, and the plant spring with insect wings is displayed next to the photograph.
